What not to do in Santiago

¡Hola!  How is everybody doing?  Thanks for all of the updates mom!  I love hearing about dads Crazy Korea stuff.  Thanks for sending that thing about Nephi!  I needed that.  I miss ya mom.  But I love it here!

So this week after writing you guys on monday, I sprained my ankle....  Which sucks, because everyday we walk about 6 or 7 miles on average.  But I have been wearing a brace, and it is ok.  So yesterday I got attacked by a dog on the street.  I learned a lesson... Not to provoke the dogs.  You think I wouldve known.

So the public transportation is nuts.  Especially the buses!  They are so dangerous.  The bus that was taking us home one day was going like 60 miles in a 25 zone haha.  Crazy.  So I compiled a list of things to know if you want to survive in Santiago Chile South mission.

1.  You never get the chance to use the bathroom, so learn how to hold it.

2.  Youre going to get fat, just take it like a champ.

3.  If you dont know what is going on in a lesson, just look at your companion and do what he is doing.

4.  When people ask you questions, and you have absolutely no idea what they are talking about, just smile and say si or no.(This only applies to spanish)

5.  You will get tired, but you just have to suck it up, or get hit by a bus if you want to rest.

6.  If you dont know where the food came from, DONT EAT IT!

7.  The dogs may look cute, but dont touch them, they are the spawn of satan.

8.  Watch where you step.  There are dogs everywhere, so that means there is crap everywhere.

9.  Nobody is on time here, so learn to be paitent for your lunch.  Also learn that everybody comes to sacrament meeting 20 minutes late.

10.  Learn how to balance the shower handles on hot an cold.  Because if you turn it one half of a centimeter one way, you will either have lava pouring out of the faucet, or hail.  So learn!

These are all things that I have learned in the first 2 weeks of being out in the field.

This week was a really fun week!  Me and my comp are leading the biggest area in Lessons with Less active members, lessons with investigators, new investigators, and church attendance!  We are working so hard!  It is really draining me of my energy, but I am absolutely loving it.  We found this new investigator on tuesday.  He is pretty awesome.  He stuck his head outside of his window, and told us he wasnt interested.  But we just asked him about his job and his family, and he opened up, and came outside to talk to us.  He talked to us for about 5 minutes, and said "Hey its kinda cold, you guys can come onto my patio."  We sat down for all of 2 seconds, and he said "nah, lets go inside."  It was so awesome!  Haha, we talked with him about his job, and what he liked to do, and his religon.  He said he was christan.  And we asked him if we could teach him a little lesson.  He said sure.  We taught him a 45 minute lesson on the restoration.  It was so awesome, he invited us back againthis friday!  I am so stoked!

We are still teaching the familia Oses.  They are such a good family, but only the dad has come to church.  We are really trying to bring the whole family back, but it is really hard.  I am teaching english to this other family, la familia Munoz.  They are coming to church as well.  They are really awesome, and they love learning about the gospel.  Also we are teaching this really old man.  Bertodolino.  He is super hilarious, and really generous.  He always makes us food.

This week our neighborhood has been robbed.  Every house except for 2 houses have been broken into.  Our house and the other member family on our street.  Haha I want to use that story in one of our lessons with an investigator.  "Hey if you join our church, you wont get robbed!" haha Nah just joking.

Something that I have learned this week.  Being a missionary is hard.  But it is so worth it!
